Do you mind that I don't have brand information? I just am out of the habit of worrying about brands and hoping my kids don't take notice anytime soon that brand names might mean anything. I do recognize certain brands hold an element of quality that other brands do not. I try to base purchases more on quality meshed with affordability more than a familiar brand. Hoping to pass that on!

Rummage Sale Extravaganza

Oh my golly sakes alive did we do some great rummaging this weekend!

With my babe and both kids occupied, me and Anj went to the city (that's what us rural folk call the town 30 miles away we have to travel to for pretty much anything besides gas, milk, and a movie rental) to hit some garage/rummage sales.

Normally, we're volunteering at the New Image Thrift Store, or sitting with our dementia patient on a Saturday morning.

But NOT this Saturday!!

We piled our finds in the back seat of the car, taking advantage of not having backseat passengers and being too lazy to manually pop the trunk with the key.

What did we find, you ask???

Well, that my friends, is what we will show you in the weeks to come.

For starters, look at this outfit Anj concocted all by herself. The pants are the only Rummage Sale find, but if you had ANY idea what a big deal this outfit is, you'd be proud too!





You see, Anj has completely made a 180 in life and the modest clothing element has been a teensy bit frustrating. Not DRESSING modestly...but FINDING modest clothing that fits, is stylish, is practical for an active life, and affordable. This $15.00 outfit "fits" the bill.

{Thrift Store Thursday} Pillows, Purses, and Placemats, Oh my!

Oh what vintage finds I have from today's sorting at the New Image Thrift Store.



Most amazingly, they all coordinate together quite nicely, don't ya think?

First, let's talk about the round velvet pillllllows! Pristine.
Buuuut, I think I'm going to cover them in something that matches my decor. Sorry. At least I have a picture to show them in their original beauty. What do you think? Would you leave them as is or recover them?


Next up, a sweet white vintage clutch purse. I love vintage clutch purses. I never ever use them, but I would like to collect them. Instead, I will attempt to sell this one over at the New Image Thrift Store. So if you like it, please hop on over there and support a great cause!



Last, and definitely not least, my favorite find of the day actually: Three vintage vinyl placemats.



What can a person do with only THREE placemats you ask?

I immediately envisioned Cricut cut-out words adorning each placemat and hanging somewhere on a wall in my town house.

I'll show you what I come up with. Or they might end up on the New Image Thrift Store wall in the meantime, announcing the location of items like: Shoes, Belts, Curtains.

They're going to be adorable for sure, you'll see!

{Thrift Store Thursday} Vintage Scottie

It was sorting day again at the New Image Thrift Store. Many cute little finds, but my internet is slower than molasses, so I'm only going to be able to show this adorable skirt:

{Thrift Store Thursday} Leftovers from Last Week

I found these items last week and I'm just dying to refashion the pink and yellow pieces a bit. I think my and me madre' are going to work together on this, right mom?

Anyway, I'm confident I will find more photo worthy items this afternoon at the New Image Thrift Store, but I didn't want to keep anyone waiting...more to come!

{Victorian Home} Master Bedroom

Leaving off from last week's Master Bedroom Nook, I bring you the rest of the Master Bedroom in my parent's beautifully restored Victorian Home.

My mom is such a thrifty shopper. The bedspread and pillow on the right on this master bed were thrifted. The Eastlake Head/Footboard were found as part of the three-piece set in this room at an antique shop in Okoboji, Iowa. Isn't it beautiful (in spite of the poor photo)?



I love how almost every piece has a story. The third piece in the East Lake set: lady's dresser adorned with a three-piece vanity set gifted by my grandmother, homemade soap named after my mom once sold at my brick & mortar, "The Funky Junk Storehouse," a thrifted vase, and a Scentsy pot.


To the left of the lady's dresser, an antique picture with a large wooden cylinder storage container with lid below decoupaged and painted as a gift from my grandmother, Vi.


To the right of the bed, the Master's Dresser, a family heirloom belonging to my Grandfather, Lloyd. Lovely thrifted items include leather shaving straps, shaving mug and brush.


The South wall: A replica armoire serves as a closet for my dad, on the wall is a beautiful cross stitch picture made by my grandmother. The cedar chest belonged to my mother's "Grandma Mossum", her kitty Leira joins the photoshoot. Pink floral curtains are thrifted.


At the foot of the bed, a footstool saved from an auction of her friend, Nancy Flemming. Many thrifted items on this antique end table. A beautiful antique chandelier.

{Thrift Store Thursday}

Oh, I found many a treasure this week. I really think I need to open an online store to get these vintage items out to those who would appreciate them. These vintage items just don't sell here in Smalltown, USA...and I only have so much room!

The only items I had time to photograph (need a model for other items) are these two lovely purses ($1.00 each) and a cute little pair of American Eagle Flats ($1.00).

Should I start an auction?
